How to use Flossmark
Import your chart PDF once, tap a thread to highlight it, then tap or drag across squares to mark them. Progress saves itself on the device, and a backup file moves everything to another device.

1. Import a chart
On the chart list, choose Choose a PDF (or drag the file onto the hoop on a computer). Pick the “Pattern Keeper compatible” PDF from your download. Flossmark reads each page, joins them up, and copies the designer’s symbols. It opens the chart when it’s done.
If the chart has notes from the import (for example a symbol that isn’t in the key), they’re listed at the top. Check them against the printed chart.
2. Find your way around
- Zoom: pinch, Ctrl+scroll, the + and − buttons, or the + and − keys. The corners button (or the 0 key) fits the whole chart.
- Move: two fingers, a two-finger trackpad scroll, right-drag with a mouse, or switch the tool to Move to move with one finger.
- Rows and columns are numbered every ten along the top and left edges, and the heavy grid line falls on every tenth square, as on the printed chart.
3. Highlight a thread
Open Threads and tap the one you’re stitching. Every other colour fades back and the stitches still to do are outlined. Each thread shows how many stitches are left. Tap it again to see everything.
4. Mark stitches
- With the Mark tool, tap a square to mark it, or drag along a row or block. Starting on a marked square unmarks instead.
- With a thread highlighted, dragging only marks that thread, so you can sweep across a busy area.
- Undo and Redo are in the toolbar (or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y).
- Finished a colour on the fabric? Highlight it and choose “Mark every … stitch as done”.
- Choose a pink, yellow or green highlighter, and Symbols or Colours view.
5. Keep it safe and move devices
Progress saves as you go. On the chart list, Save a backup downloads one file with every chart and its progress. On another device, open Flossmark and choose Restore a backup. If a chart is on both, the newer progress wins.
On iPad, add Flossmark to your Home Screen (Share, then Add to Home Screen) so Safari keeps its storage.
6. More than one chart
The free version keeps one chart at a time (the sample doesn’t count). Delete a finished chart to import the next, or unlock unlimited charts for £9.99 once, in up to three browsers.
